We encourage you to support MassEquality in their efforts secure same-sex marriage in Rhode Island and to defend marriage equality in the other five New England states. Please also consider making a donation to Maine Freedom to Marry. While same-sex marriage was authorized by the Maine legislature on May 6, 2009, opponents of marriage equality are seeking to place a measure on the ballot that would reverse this decision.

SupportEquality.org is no longer processing donations. Thank you for your interest.

Q: How were candidates and organizations selected? Do they change?
A: For candidates, we assembled some of the brightest political minds in the state, asked them to identify key races in the November, 2006, election, interviewed candidates to ensure their support, and then added them to our site. For organizations, we have evaluated a variety of national and statewide PACs and educational organizations, considered their focus on equal marriage rights and their ability to affect the outcome here, and selected those that we believe will be most effective. Our political volunteers confer frequently to update our recommendations.

Q: Who will receive my contact information/credit card information?
A: SupportEquality.org will pass your contact/credit card information only to those campaigns or organizations to which you decide to donate.

Q: Does SupportEquality.org receive some part of my contribution?
A: No! SupportEquality was created by volunteers to help you give to those candidates and organizations that need you most. We do not accept donations. We do not take any part of the donations made using the tools on our site.

Q: Why do you ask for my contact and work information?
A: The Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance requires that each campaign and PAC record certain information about donors, including name and address, and, when donations exceed $200 in any calendar year, occupation and employer. We request this information so that we can submit it electronically for you with your donations to the campaigns or organizations that you choose to support.

Q: Who is behind SupportEquality.org
A: We are a handful of volunteers, all living in Massachusetts. Some of us are political people, some technologists, others are students. We are all united by our desire to protect equal marriage rights here and extend them across America.

Q: I am a candidate who will support you in the fall. Whom do I contact to be listed on the site?
A: Please contact info@supportequality.org.
